Sant Eulalia is a co-patron saint of Barcelona who is celebrated each year at the begining of February, Festes de Sant Eulalia. Having just arrived a little before the festival, I thought it was a good start to getting emerged in the city's traditions and culture! Living in El Gotico you are always in the midst of the celebrations and this was an amazing start to my time here!
The festival lasted for roughly a week in which time the City Hall building in Placa de Sant Jaume displayed an animation film most nights which was so cool to see, never seen anything like it before! The festival also included processions from Les Gegantes, giant wooden figures operated by people inside them and performances from Castellers, these are a group of people trained to stand on each others shoulders to build a human tower, very impressive I can tell you.
The festival also ran alongside another called Llum BCN, a cool display of light instalations and animations around the Old Town. A fun festival for all the family to enjoy and great for any keen photographers! This years festivities start 11/02/16
