Barcelona - When is the Best Time to Visit?

October – March

Generally classed as “off season ”, this is when I would always visit Barcelona before I moved here. Flights from the U.K and accommodation tend to be cheaper, the weather whist cool for Spain, is still pleasant and sunny most of the time and definitely an upgrade on the Scottish weather! It’s also a little less crowded in terms of footfall. Saying that – due to these being the more quieter months in Barcelona, timetables can vary and some attractions may not be open or run limited opening hours. (This would depend of course on what you plan on doing when you are here!) So it's worth looking online at winter timetables before planning anything.

April – June

This is when things start to get a little bit busier in Barcelona! Families and schools are on holiday and there is a bit more “buzz” about the place. The weather for me, is at its most pleasant – nice temperatures without being too hot. Great for outdoor activities and for people watching on terraces. Flights from the U.K and accommodation start to become more expensive at this time of year, especially during the school holidays.

July – September

This is when it really starts to heat up with temperatures on average reaching around 30 degrees celsius! The bonus of coming at this time of the year is that Barcelona is a city with many beaches! Great if you want to have a cultural and relaxing holiday! Terraces can be quite crowed with people trying to escape from the heat, but summer is when Barcelona is at its most vibrant in my opinion. Local business’s sometimes close for the whole of August as they take off on their own summer holidays. Flights from the U.K and accommodation are at their most expensive at this time but as the city has so much to offer it is certainly worth it.

I don't think there is any good or bad time to visit Barcelona, it all depends on what your looking for in a holiday but guaranteed what ever time of year you do visit, you will have an amazing time!
